Johnny's Pickies started long before there was a name on a jar.
Years ago, Johnny set out to make his own pickles. He tried different recipes, but something was always missing. He wanted more depth, more character, and a garlic-forward flavor that stood apart from the ordinary.
So he started experimenting.
After years of trial and error, along with plenty of honest feedback from friends and family, his signature Garlic Dill recipe began to take shape.
From there, the Pickie family grew. A spicy variation followed, and a request from friends in Boston helped inspire the Bread & Butter recipe. Today, Johnny's Pickies offers Garlic Dill, Spicy Stuff, Bread & Butter, and Spicy Bread & Butter.
But where did the name "Pickies" come from?
That credit belongs to Johnny's daughter, who called pickles Pickies when she was little.
The name stuck. And honestly, what else could we have called them?
Johnny's approach remains personal. Every jar is hand-packed, with an emphasis on flavor and the care that went into developing the original recipes.
Based in Libertyville, Illinois, Johnny's Pickies began its business journey in 2025, bringing a family tradition and a whole lot of personality to local markets and pickle lovers.
